Movie Review: Push

Was extremely excited to see this movie and my buddy(gatorbait015 - on youtube) let me borrow it!

Pre-thoughts:

-Good cast (I really like the first two listed): Chris Evans (Fantastic Four/FF:RotSS - Human Torch), Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond and Never Back Down), Camilla Belle (10,000 BC and When a Stranger Calls) and Dakota Fanning (Coraline, Man on Fire, Hide and Seek and War of the Worlds).

-Had a feeling it would be a knock off of Heroes and I love Heroes, so I was really excited.

-Plot: Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning have special abilities and must find a girl in Hong Kong before a crooked government organization called Division does.

Thoughts:

-Dakota Fanning was pretty annoying in this movie. She is usually hit or miss for me and she just annoyed me.

-The powers are really neat:

NOTE: If you don't want to read about the powers and find out in the movie, skip forward!!

-Pusher: They can push lies, memories(that never even happened) and even emotions into the minds of their target. The target believes anything and everything the Pusher says.
-Watcher: Can self induce visions of the future. It's just like a prolonged deja vu.
-Stitch: Psychic healers/surgeons who can quickly reconstruct cells to their previous/healthy state.
-Bleeder: They create high-pitch sonic vibrations that rupture their targets blood vessels. They are more of an assassin type.
-Sniff: Can track the locations of people or objects over varying distances just from smell.
-Shifter: Can temporarily shift the way an object looks to the human eye. Example: a piece of paper cut to look like a dollar bill, they can transform into a $100 bill.
-Shadow: Used to block the visions of sniffs and to temporarily block the Watchers visions.
-Wiper: Can temporarily or permanently remove memory.

-I liked how they didn't complicate the powers like sometimes Heroes does, everything flows together well.

-A lot of people disliked or hated this movie, but I for one, really enjoyed it.

-Story line kept interesting, they were sure to throw in a couple twists to keep the story fun and active.

Overall:

This will be a movie I purchase on DVD when I can find it. I personally wouldn't pay more than $5 for it, but that is what I usually pay for DVDs now-a-days.

My Weekend Away

Hey everyone!

Sorry, I've been completely silent lately. This past weekend my wife and I had a weekend away trip planned(before I knew I was going to lose my job) and we had a blast together.

Saturday: We drove to "The Beach" waterpark located next to Kings Island in Cincinnati, Ohio. We arrived at 10 am(when they opened) and were gone by 11:30am. I can't even express how disappointing that water park has become.

I remember the last time I went, I had a BLAST. Now, it seems just completely run down, dirty and full of a very rude staff(with the exception of one, maybe two).

So, after we left we decided to go to the Newport(Kentucky) Aquarium, since our check-in for our hotel wasn't until 3pm.

Wow, did we have fun! I really enjoy zoo's and aquariums, but I think that may be the best one I've been too yet! Very neat fish, sharks, octopuss, jellyfish..you name it! I highly recommend anyone to check that out if you live near the area or will be planning a trip around the area. It's just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio..it lies on the border of Ohio/Kentucky.

I even touched a shark! I'm scared as hell of those things, but I did it! Felt like sandpaper!

After we were done, we checked into our hotel room and relaxed/took showers before going to dinner. We watched Jurassic Park, since it was on HBO and I now remember why I love that movie so much.

After we were ready, we went to the famous Montogomery Inn("Ribs King"). They in fact were the best ribs I've ever had in my entire life and I can't wait to go back there again(they just opened one decently close to us!).

Sunday: Went to the Cincinnati Reds baseball game against the Washington Nationals. We lost, but we had a blast.

That was our weekend and we enjoyed every second of it. It was nice to have a "mini vacation" with my wife.

Thanks for reading!!

Zack and Miri Make A Porno Review

Hey guys, sorry I haven't updated in quite awhile. I've been extremely busy with trying to find a job and some previously planned trips(i.e. Cedar Point), so I've been neglecting the blog and youtube, because I'm running low on time.

I watched this last night(not for the first time) before bed and remembered how much I loved it, so I am going to review it.

Pre-thoughts:

-Written and Directed by Kevin Smith = pure greatness in itself

-Good quality comedic cast: Seth Rogan(Pineapple Express/40-year Old Virgin/Superbad/Step Brothers(small part)/Knocked Up), Elizabeth Banks(40-year Old Virgin/Role Models), Craig Robinson(The Office) and Jason Mewes(Clerks 1&2/Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back/Dogma) to name a few.

-Plot: Two friends(who have been friends forever) can't afford their bills anymore and after there water and power is shut off, they decide to make a porno for a means to an end.

Thoughts:

-Seth Rogan once again proves why I love his comedic roles so much.

-Justin Long has one of the funniest comedic roles I've ever seen from anyone.

-In my top 10 funniest movies of all time

-The cast worked extremely well together and the dialouge was non-stop laughter.

Overall:

-You must see this movie if you haven't already!

Fast and the Furious(2009) Review

My buddy bought this movie on blu-ray on release and finally let me borrow it! I've been dying to see it, so I finally got to watch it yesterday.

The movie picks up after the second film and everything is happening while the third film is going on, from what I understand. Hopefully that makes sense to everyone.

Pre-thoughts:

I heard a lot of good news about the movie initially. I loved the first two and thought Tokyo Drift(3) was OK at best. So, when I found out they were bringing back the original crew from the first movie, I was pumped. Some have said it was the best out of the series!

Thoughts:

-I loved Vin Diesel and Paul Walker together in the first movie. I think they are both good actors and I love how they are on each side of the playing field(ie. cop vs wanted).

-A lot of action and explosions = greatness

-They had some REALLY neat cars in the movie

-Story wasn't as good in my opinion as the first movie. On par with the second movie.

-Not as much racing as I would have liked

Overall:

-It is probably my second favorite in the series. I think the cast alone gives it the edge over the second movie.

-I highly recommend anyone seeing this movie if they can. I'd watch the first and second before seeing this one, so you know the character relationships.

Terrible News

I was given notice at my primary job that I will be laid off in the next week. I will be busy finding another job in the mean time, but will try to keep up with youtube and my blog as much as possible.

Harry Potter: Half-Blood Prince Review

Before reading this, please check out the previous post for an update on this blog!

So the first official movie review for this channel is Harry Potter: Half-Blood Prince aka Harry Potter 6.

As always, I took my sister(Kuhellsea) to see the movie because it is tradition that we see all HP movies in theatre.

Pre-thoughts:

We had read/heard mixed reviews about this movie through various websites/friends, ect. We were still extremely excited to see it and the trailer was enough to get me past the negativity it has received. Something I cannot comment on is the fact that some of the HP book READERS said that the movie strayed from the book a bit, so while I hope this isn't too true, I feel it probably is.

Thoughts:

-This movie was definitely in my top 3 favorite HP movies to be released. Number one favorite being Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I definitely enjoy the more darker side to the story now that Voldemort is fully released and back to ass kicking power.

-Malfoy had a much bigger role in the movie and I was finally glad to see Malfoy with a more prominent role(but I'm not telling what it is!).

-There was a much higher comedic value to the movie as well. Many more scenes had made me laugh or smile than the others, especially some scenes with Ron.

-As I said before, they put a bit more comedy in it, but they kept up with the darkness that is surrounding Hogwarts/Harry and his crew.

-The one thing I was annoyed with was the fact that they keep going back and forth with the love interests of Harry, Ron and Hermine. I understand that they are getting older and with age attractions grow and it is part of character development, but I wish they would reduce it.

-There was a huge ending and I am extremely excited to see the movie to follow.

Overall

As I said before, it is in my top 3 favorite HP movies of all time. It will be one I buy upon release and can't wait to watch again.

If you are a HP fan, I highly recommend seeing it in theatres if you can, but if not, definitely need to see it on DVD upon release!
